Our first Lapbook!

Some weeks ago, Idoia and Adirane, both teachers at Ezkaba School,  told me about Lapbooks. I saw their own examples and noticed their students where really motivated with this project. So, I decided to design one for us and include it in the yearly programming. We are working on it right now and I can say without a doubt that my students REALLY ENJOY IT!

"Collaborative Learning" Training.

This School Year, at Ezkaba Public School, we are attending a seminar about Collaborative Learning. We are including new strategies in our everyday teaching in order to foster Cooperative and Social skills. 

Students are learning to work more independently in small groups, to help each other, to collaborate, to share information and definitly, to feel part of a TEAM! 

TOGETHER EVERYONE ACHIVES MORE!!

I have finished " Learning and Teaching Strategies for Project-based work" seminar. The final task is to design a project-topic and to develop our own project-based classroom program.

Learning Centres: Presentation

Last year I attended a course for English teachers where they encourage us to create learning centres in our classroom.

A learning centres is a space in the classroom that provides the students the opportunity to engage in an activity to enrich their learning. 

When kids listen to the bell, they tidy up their centre 

and get ready to move on.

We are creating and buying different resources and materials that provide a hands-on learning experience. Those have been our first centres:

1. Memory game.

2. Match the sticks.

3. Clothes pins and letters.

4. Numbers 1 to 10.

5. Match the ice creams.

6. Numbers 11 to 20.

It goes without saying that kids love this methodology! They work in groups, speak English and learn while they PLAY and HAVE FUN!

Public Montessori Space

I wrote about the Public Montessori Space and last Saturday I had the opportunity to visit it.

Introduction to Montessori Method

Last August I attended a summer course organized by the Public University of Navarre. It was a down to earth introduction to Montessori method. 

First Great Lesson: Coming of the Universe and the Earth.

During the course we were moving, learning, living, touching, feeling...  the way students do in a prepared environment. It was amazing to go back to our childhood.

Second Great Lesson: Coming of Life.

Gema and Ainara, both Montessori guides, were the speakers. Ainara has a lovely blog where she shares resources and information about the method from all over the world(aprenderlachispa).

They have also created a Public Montessori space in Huarte, you can find more information about it HERE.

I must say it was a really memorable experience because we all were able to learn about Montessori methodology by doing.
